Greek Yogurt Ranch Dressing is a creamy, healthy homemade ranch dip made with tangy yogurt, fresh herbs, zesty lemon juice, and a secret ingredient for that pungent ranch vibe. Ditch the bottled salad dressing and make this protein-packed homemade yogurt ranch instead!

    Welcome to the ranch!

Guys, can I tell you something? I love ranch dressing. Like, I love it so much that I'll pack my suitcase full of ranch dressing whenever I'm stateside because it's not easy to find where I live. I will pay overweight baggage fines for ranch dressing.

Ranch dressing is a key ingredient for the Buffalo Butter Bean Salad that I am OBSESSED with, among other things. So, trust me when I say that after many, MANY tests, I've landed on a recipe for Greek Yogurt Ranch Dressing that I love *almost* as much as Hidden Valley. As a nutritionist, I'd be remiss if I didn't point out how much healthier this version is as well.

Much like our community fave vegetarian Caesar dressing, we're getting creative with ingredients—in a good way! We're combining protein-packed Greek yogurt with lots of fresh herbs, lemon juice, garlic and onion powder, and, stay with me on this, a little bit of nutritional yeast stirred in at the end. This is the ingredient that I swear tips the scales in the Hidden Valley direction, so I recommend you go with it.

Let's make Greek Yogurt Ranch Together!

    Step 1: mix it up

Put all your ingredients and mix it on up. You know what to do.

A glass bowl with greek yogurt topped with fresh herbs, lemon juice, garlic and onion powder, salt, and nutritional yeast

You may want to thin it out with a couple of tablespoons of water, depending on how thick your Greek yogurt is.

Step 2: chill for a bit

Once everything is mixed, let it chill for a bit so the flavors can develop.

After 10 minutes or so, give it a taste and adjust the seasonings as you like.

    Step 3: enjoy!

Get in there and enjoy your Greek yogurt ranch dressing! Live your best life.

Drizzle it on salads, use it as a dip for veggies, or just eat it with a spoon. No shame in that game.

    Things to think about 💭

🫙 Keep in mind that Greek yogurt comes in many different thicknesses, fat percentages, and protein levels. Your ranch dressing will come out differently depending on the yogurt you choose!

🧑🏻‍🍳 I've tested and developed this recipe using full-fat Greek yogurt, and then adding water to thin it out to the desired consistency. If you're using it as a salad dressing, you may want it on the thinner side. For a dip, go thicker!

⏳ Greek Yogurt Ranch is made with fresh ingredients, which means it has a shorter shelf life than the bottled stuff. This recipe will last for 3-5 days in your fridge.

    Ingredients

    • ¾ cup plain Greek yogurt
    • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
    • ¾ teaspoons onion powder
    • ½ teaspoon salt
    • 1 Tablespoon nutritional yeast optional, but delicious
    • 1 Tablespoon fresh dill finely minced
    • 1 Tablespoon chives or green onion finely minced
    • 1 Tablespoon parsley finely minced (optional)
    • 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
    • 1-2 Tablespoons water

    Instructions

    • Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and stir until well combined.
¾ cup plain Greek yogurt, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, ¾ teaspoons onion powder, ½ teaspoon salt, 1 Tablespoon nutritional yeast, 1 Tablespoon fresh dill, 1 Tablespoon chives or green onion, 1 Tablespoon parsley, 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
    • Add 1-2 tablespoons water to thin to your desired consistency.
      1-2 Tablespoons water
    • Let the dressing rest for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to bloom. Taste, and adjust seasonings if necessary.

    Notes

    • Nutrition values are an estimate only
    • Nutritional yeast is optional, but highly recommended. It provides a real umami flavor, and is what takes this dressing from tasting like a thin tzatziki to more of that classic Ranch dressing taste.
    • Be sure to mince the fresh herbs very finely so the dressing is not too chunky.
    • This dressing will last about 2-3 days in your fridge.
    • A thinner dressing is great for salads; keep it on the thick side if you're going to use it as a dip for veggies.
