Hey there! Happy Mother's Day to those of you who are celebrating today, and sending love and light to those for whom this is a difficult day.
My kids are too little to really get it, but Niko did come home from the playground with a bouquet of flowers and a very carefully rehearsed, "happy mother's day, mom, I love you!"
Odin gave me the gift of sleeping until 7:30am, but he definitely owed me after being up for a full hour between 3 and 4am bitching about having a mild fever.
I have some things I want to talk to you about today.
1. Can we talk about bras?
Now that I'm done breastfeeding I'm faced with trying to find a new bra. Two pregnancies have expanded my already impressively-large ribcage, and I've always struggled to find bras that work with that ultimate combination of wide ribs and the empty skin bags that are my post-nursing boobs. The gappage is real.
Hit me with your recommendations! Has anyone tried out those Third Love T-Shirt bras that literally every podcast seems to be sponsored by? Do they work? Is there an underwire-less actually comfortable bra out there that won't make me look like a 12-year-old boy? Help, please!
2. How's your book reading going?
If you recall, I *just* made my book reading goal for 2018. Man oh man, am I ever blowing it with my 2019 goal. Usually by this time of year I'm comfortably ahead of schedule, but you know how many books I've managed to finish this year? Two. TWO! It's already mid-May, I should have blasted through AT LEAST five books by this point.
I know that I'm in a particularly bonkers season of my life right now with two small kids, basically full-time work, a business I'm trying to build, and a ridiculous construction project ongoing. But sheesh, I need to remind myself to start reading again.
3. The bathroom...
No, it's not done. OF COURSE IT'S NOT DONE. Why would it be done by now? That's just silly.
The tiling wrapped up on Wednesday, and in spite of the major f*ck up with the wall tiles, we're pretty happy with how it looks. The plumber was supposed to come on Thursday and install the toilet and start running pipes, but he cancelled at the last minute. Then he came on Friday but our contractor had our toilet in his van and was stuck in traffic, so eventually plumber guy gave up and left.
I must say, although not having any work done for two days made me want to punch a wall, I did REALLY enjoy not having workers in my apartment for a couple of days.
We are now hoping it might wrap up this coming Friday, but as I said to our contractor, I'll believe it when I've showered in it.
4. Pinterest
Last week I was doing some searching on Pinterest when I noticed one of my pins leading to another website. This is a dick move where someone steals your pin and directs it somewhere else, and in this case it was not only my pin (an image with a graphic overlay) but my text and everything had been scraped.
I reported the stolen pin to Pinterest along with evidence that it was my work, and they diligently deleted the pin... only in a bonehead move that involved not reading the fine print, I not only had that pin deleted but ALL of that particular pin deleted, including all of those that do link to my site.
Ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh. Mostly it's just super annoying, but it has also resulted in a drop in traffic to my site for this particular recipe, and a ton of broken links I need to go in and fix.
Pretty please if you are a Pinterest user could you a) follow me on Pinterest, and b) pin this pin to one of your boards? Thank you, thank you, thank you.
ON HEY NUTRITION LADY THIS WEEK
Guys, I'm telling ya, you haven't lived until you've peeled and roasted a batch of these Crispy Roasted Garbanzo Beans. Why are we calling them garbanzo beans and not chickpeas? Because my keyword research told me I had a better chance at ranking for garbanzos. Now you know. {Pin for later}
I also shared these Banana Overnight Oats. This is one of my two favourite go-to overnight oats recipes (this is the other one). It's easy and delicious and at this time of year it makes a damn fine breakfast topped with fresh berries. {Pin for later}

Hi Katie, I've been reading your blog for a while and have thought about commenting many times, but never done it. I love your sense of humor. Anyway, I did buy the third love bras and I love them! Give them a try, super comfy, they have a lot of different adjustment settings so I think they should work well for your wide ribs, although I don't really have the same problem. I just hate anything constricting. lol. I recommend the padded one.

Hi Heather! I remember you from way back! Thanks for letting me know Third Love is actually good. I'll perhaps give them a try!
