what’s good around the web!

what's good around the web!

I know I say this every month, but woah, where did the month go?! Now that I’m working from home I find that the days go by especially fast. I had this vision that I’d work for a while, take a break to do some exercise, get back to work… yet in the few short weeks I’ve been working this way I’ve already learned that if I don’t exercise in the morning before I start working, it’s just not going to happen.

A couple of days a week Paul does the daycare drop off, and on those days I head to the pool for a morning swim. I’m still trying to get into a good routine on the other days, but one thing I’ve found that works is running stairs.

There are three decent flights of stairs between Niko’s daycare and our apartment building, so after I drop him off I head to the closest one and run up and down it 12 times. Then 12 times up and down the next set of stairs, and a final 12 on the set that closest to our home. I’m thinking that once the snow and ice arrives I can switch to the stairs in our building and see how that works out.

when in doubt, donate

This month’s donation went to UNICEF. I always remember kids carrying around those UNICEF donation boxes at Halloween, but never quite knew what it was all about. To be honest this month I was torn about where to donate, there just seemed to be so much need in so many places. I decided to follow Elizabeth Gilbert’s advice and not think about it too much, to just give rather than getting caught up in the paralysis of indecision. I was leaning towards a children’s charity anyways, so UNICEF it was.

must have pantry items for clean items from Hello Glow

This month on Hello Glow I shared an article about must have pantry items for clean eating – some of which may surprise you! And since Winter Is Coming, I also wrote about the best ways to boost your vitamin D during winter

a little bit delicious

I spiralize a lot of zucchini but not a lot of anything else. Time to change that! These 20-minute Peanut Sweet Potato Noodles with Spinach from Kitchen Treaty have totally got my attention!

I do love a sturdy, filling, meal salad, and this Nourishing Fall Protein Power Salad looks to be right up my alley.

Lastly, for a good-for-you sweet treat (and cause I know you’re all cooking those Jack o’Lanterns, right?) these Pumpkin Muffins from Pinch of Yum look mighty fine. Bonus points for being made with oat flour, and coming together entirely in your food processor.
