what’s good around the web!

A Friday evening stroll through central Stockholm right around sunset. We’ve been looking after our favourite four-legged friend over the weekend, and I’ve been reminded of how much I enjoy taking long walks and listening to podcasts. Speaking of which, have you discovered the Undisclosed podcast? If you were a fan of Serial, you really should give this a listen. The first couple of episodes are pretty shaky production wise, but if you stick it out things really turn around by episode 3 – which will blow your mind! Definitely worth a listen!

And now, some worthy food, nutrition, and health articles from around the web for your weekend reading pleasure:

2. A must read: When the cult of “wellness” becomes unhealthy.

3. The antioxidant era is over. Get to know your phytonutrients.

4. Why you shouldn’t trust the calorie estimates on your fitness tracker.

5. Study: keeping gut bacteria in balance could help delay age-related diseases.

I’ve been feeling really lethargic in the last week and am wondering whether my iron may be low. I’ll be getting it checked soon enough, but in the mean time I’m trying to focus a bit more on iron in my diet, as well as protein. That in mind, I’m planning to whip up a big batch of this Tomato Spinach Lentil Soup to have on hand for quick and easy meals. It freezes like a charm, so I’ll make enough for a few meals this week and freeze the rest.

Also on my radar this week is this One-Pot Tomato Lentil Pasta from Emma’s Little Kitchen, Hearty Marinara Sauce with Lentils and Beans from Kitchen Treaty, and Kellie’s Broccoli, Spinach, and Wild Rice Phyllo Pie from Food to Glow. All delicious looking iron-rich vegetarian meals there that can be made in bulk. My kind of meals!

I hope you’re all enjoying your weekends and getting your weekly meal prep done! I’ll be back early in the week with a new recipe, in the mean time, have a great Sunday!

Thanks for your always clickable nutrition finds (I really want to believe my FitBIt but know it is a big fat liar) and also for linking to my recipe. :-)) Hope this week is a great one for you. I hope your dog friend continued to behave himself and didn’t help himself to any of your yummy food.:-)
