This is one of my favourite views of Stockholm, and lucky for me, it's just a few blocks away from our apartment. It seems in the last week that spring has finally arrived. There isn't much green yet, but much like the light, which is racing back towards near constant daylight, I suspect it'll come quickly. The ice is gone, and it's been warm enough to sit at our favourite spot and marvel at where we live.
What’s good around the web is a weekly series where I share some of what I’ve been reading around the web. Each week I’ll be posting links to five nutrition related articles, good recipes, and just general good reads. I hope you enjoy it! If you’ve got at article or recipe you’d like to see featured, please email me.
1. Food security is set to become a problem for everyone, not just the poor.
2. Nutrition faceoff! Kale vs Spinach - which is better for you?
3. New research is suggesting that screen time is worse for your heart than other sedentary behaviours (like reading a book). Huh.
4. Are you some sort of 'tarian?
5. This is awesome! Bill Maher critiques the food system. Foul language alert!

Have a look at collards. Amazing, and can be grown in the winter on the West Coast of Canada. Not as pretty as spinach. But serious food in a smoothie.
I know we can do better than Bill predicts.

Ahh, to live on the temperate west coast of BC. We sadly don't get collards here, and kale is pretty hard to find except at Christmas time. But, I've found frozen kale, and as frozen kale and frozen spinach both come in little cubes here, I routinely add a handful of either to my smoothies in the morning.

I will be reading every one of the links, especially thanks to the 'preview' by your other commenters. I think you know where I'm heading first - kale v spinach!

I really liked the spinach/kale face off! I want someone to do that with quinoa vs. wheatberries! And hahaa. I am guilty of being a pescetarian. It sounds SO pretentious but...it perfectly describes what I choose to eat :/

Hmm, quinoa vs wheatberries faceoff, eh? Maybe I'll have to do it myself!

i have to admit i found the bill maher piece highly entertaining both amusing and with some insightful comments. his conclusion is rather scary isn't it? in part because it might really be somewhat similar to how the future looks.

I know, right? He's hilarious, but he's so right.

Hi Katie: Loved the Spinach vs Kale won - need to work on getting more Kale into my diet. Hope you are well.

Me too! I wish kale was more readily available year round here, but I eat as much of it as I can when I can!
