Welcome to Hey Nutrition Lady!
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Katie and I'm the Nutrition Lady! I'm a university-trained nutritionist with a Bachelor of Science in Food, Nutrition, and Health and Master of Science in Nutrition. I'm passionate about real food, a champion of body positivity and intuitive eating, and a meal-planning lunch-packing whiz.
My mission on Hey Nutrition Lady is to lean in on my science background and use critical thinking to help sift through the enormous amount of misinformation and pseudoscience when it comes to nutrition, to help you make informed decisions about what to eat in order to become your healthiest and happiest selves.
I'm a lover of carbs, a hater of mushrooms (the bane of my existence as a vegetarian), and a green smoothie aficionado. I make my own pasta, from scratch, and it's glorious, but I see equal value in feeding my family boxed macaroni and cheese from time to time.
Now that the new site is up and running you can expect fresh recipes and nutrition content weekly, but for now I'll leave you some of my favourite recipes from the archives!
This Chocolate Black Bean Brownie Smoothie is one of the most popular recipes on the site! It's loaded with plant-based protein thanks to the beans (you can't taste them, I promise!) and is thick, creamy, and luxurious.
These No (Added) Sugar Banana Bran Muffins are a staple in our home! I make a batch one a week and keep them in the freezer. Sweetened with only bananas and dates, they're perfectly sweet and make a great lunchbox treat or breakfast on the go.
This Mung Bean and Coconut Curry might be the most popular recipe on the site! Easy to make and packed with flavour, if you've got a package of mung beans and the back of your cupboard you're not sure what to do with, make this! It's freezer friendly, vegan, and totally delicious.
Orecchietti with Broccoli and Lemon is a favourite quick and easy weeknight dinner that packs in the veg and the flavours in a simple yet elegant dish.
And for a sweet treat, this Raw Chocolate Raspberry Mousse is just the thing! It's vegan, free from refined sugar, and packed with healthy fats. Plus: chocolate.

Loving the new look *and* the big pic of one of my favourite bloggers. We have been around, you and I, (in the blogging sense!) and your new look is giving me more impetus to make some changes myself. Thanks for the reminder of some of your "biggest hits". I must try your mung bean and coconut curry. It's calling me 🙂

Aside from your brilliant thoughts and fantastic Recipes I never realized you hate mushrooms too. Just another reason to Love you more.
The capitals is weird.

Yay, another mushroom-hating vegetarian! I'll admit to tolerating some of the funkier mushrooms, like enoki or mouse ear (the crunchy brown ones) but regular old mushrooms, portabello, shitake, etc, just yuck! Working on getting the font changed!
Michelle
Congrats Katie! Redesign looks great. Making that chocolate sMoothie immediately, btw. Thanks!
Apologies for 'shouting'...can't seem to get rid of the caps.
Katie Trant
Hmm, that seems to be the font... I'll look into changing it for the comments!
